National 4-H Week

National 4-H Week 2009National 4-H week is Oct 4th through the 10th, 2009.

During National 4-H Week, the nearly 6 million 4-H members and over 500,000 adult and youth volunteers celebrate their involvement in 4-H. County and state 4-H programs plan a variety of activities to promote 4-H to the public and to recognize 4-H accomplishments.

Two national events will be highlights of National 4-H Week:

The second 4-H National Youth Science Day is October 7. On that day, youth nationwide will be engaged in a national science experiment. This year’s experiment, “Biofuel Blast,” helps youth to understand the process of making ethanol for fuel. The experiment and supporting materials were developed with the University of Wisconsin.

On October 9, fifteen laureates will be inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center near Washington, DC. These individuals are being honored for their exemplary service to 4-H.

A free media and marketing toolkit is available if you’re interested in promoting this event as well as your project or club.
